Katarina Löfström creates visual and sound ambiences.'High Noon' is a video image that at first sight may look like a completely abstract picture. However, the viewer soon stands to recognize the heavily pixelated outline of a horizon and the silhouettes of people moving in the distance. It is like the view you see when you do not focus, when you look at something and only see your own thoughts. A similar mood is evoked by the sound, which seems like the self-generated music of the environment. Löfström's work refers to abstract images, but also to chill-out lounges in clubs where you become an independent part of a designed environment. She produces dreamy, artificially beautiful and escapist atmospheres, at the same time reminding us of the worlds that exists beyond them. As Carsten Höller has commented about Katarina Löfström's work: "It is not the image that is subjected to an acoustic detournement in Löfström's films; rather, it is the music that is made visible and thus abducted from its world of darkness".
