An integrated work for a passageway through a residential building in Mariehäll, Stockholm, covering the ceiling and the load-bearing pillars. The title is Swedish for “upside down”: the motif on the ceiling resembles a rug rolled out overhead, while the pillars evoke rolled-up rugs placed in the middle of the passage. Geometric shapes, arrows and directional markers create a sense of movement forward and upward. The shimmering glass mosaic, a technique with a long history, meets a contemporary, pixelated imagery and the warm grain of the birch plywood, so that different layers of time meet in the same surface.
